Welcome to the home of Akami, an idea for a new MMORPG. As I, the creator of this idea, can't do squat with it, for now I'll just be updating this site etc. with information on it to spread it around. I'll also be working on creating small Flash programs based off of Akami in my spare time, so you can get an idea of how the game might work.
As you'be probably noticed by now, I haven't exactly been updating the site recently. Currently, this project is (yet again) on hold. I'm hoping I'll be able to get to work on some of the mini-wiki articles up-to-date or at least properly described, but that might be a while. In the meantime, I'll change up the general information so that it's not so ambiguous, and will actually describe more than the setting and why the site's here. Below is an excerpt from a story (named Aguashe) based on Akami that I've written 2/3 of and am in the process of revising. Curse video games in their distracting wonders! Check that out and all the other changes while you're here, and until then, I'll be working.
From Akami,
Navid
A buzz like a great bumblebee woke Navid. Akin to the sound of the heavyset train maredo as it was, he ignored it. Throwing his tan legs over the side of his bed, he stretched his thin, bony arms, rubbing his faceted eyes. Groggily, he shuffled to the door leading to the washroom. Reaching for the handle, he grasped air.
Eyes still cloudy with sleep, he took only long enough to notice that the door wasn’t in the frame. Stepping through, he tripped on a small pile of rubble, landing in the washbasin.
What was left of the cloudiness was brutally erased from his eyes. Seeing one facet’s view, then another, his eyes darted frantically around the room. The walls were blasted, shining ice strewn about the floor and into the street outside. His table, intricately and beautifully carved, was shattered. Some of the chairs had pieces about the room, glittering brightly amidst the darkness of the room. The whole house was destroyed.
Shocked, he nearly missed the large bug on the wall until it was too late. With a bluish exoskeleton, its segmented body like an armadillo shell, it sat like a rabid canine. With a piercing shriek, the creature leaped towards Navid on irridescent wings.
Diving away, he rolled through the cutting shards out into the street with the bug in pursuit. Speeding down the lane, he created a frantic link with the thing, hoping to find something. As he reached towards its inner thoughts, he was barbarically shoved out by an unnatural darkness. It gave off fumes of hatred, feeding the creature’s mind evil thoughts and fueling its rage towards anything living.
Drawing his mind out of the other’s, he dashed down a side alley before quickly dashing down another, losing the bug. Then he began sprinting towards the town border.
When the end was in sight, the buzzing of another bug following him began again. Not bothering to glance behind, he kept straight ahead and continued his headlong dash with renewed vigor. The buzzing grew louder and louder, until suddenly the bug threw itself onto Navid’s leg. A sharp wail of pain was torn from his throat as the snap of bone sounded through the street. As the insect reared it’s large head, Navid prepared to block himself from a bite from its tearing mandibles with his frail arms. As he braced himself, a splattering of a sticky substance fell on his arms before a weight landed.
Lowering his guard, the head of the creature stood gaping in his face. The yellow of shock passed over his eyes before the calm blue of relief replaced it. Looking away, he saw one of the Defenders’ commanders wiping his blade off on one of the wings, along with a small entourage of people following Marid, his friend. As a small group of people gathered up the golden blood, filmy wings, faceted eyes, and sharp mandibles from the insect, Navid slowly worked his way to standing, wincing every time he put weight on the broken leg. The sharp grey of seriousness shone in Marid’s eyes as he watched the other get up. “The rest of the town will meet us at the rendezvous point, according to the evacuation procedure.” He stated flatly. Nodding, Navid joined the rest of the group and started limping along, out into the frozen wasteland of Quadidyr.
Thus began the Great Migration.
